 THE FINLANDLAND TRIBUNE

Member Nations of Finlandland:

Parliament Has Determined the Following Concerning the Region of Finlandland:

Issue 1: Fine. The site stays. Sorry, founder!

Issue 2: UN Voting
For regional issues, all nations will of course be allowed to vote. However, when the UN delegate determines his/her vote on a UN resolution, non-UN members will not be allowed to participate. This is because the result of such vote and, possibly, the result of the resolution, will not affect their nations.

Issue 3: Exchange Rates
The Finlandland Parliament has determined that it is an infringement upon national sovereignty to instate a required currency at the current time. However, it is also lacking the necessary time and monies to fund studies of nations' commercial proficiencies, overall economy, currency backup, etc. Therefore, until further notice, all Finlandland member nation currency exchange rates shall be set at 1:1.

OK people - enough is enough. The first nation with two or more endorsements to apply for a Finlandland Officer Position gets the position. Three nations cannot do this alone.

Below is the region close-up, which focuses on the nature of other regions within the NationStates World. It is a totally new feature; we'll try to keep it up. A press corps would really help us out right now!!!

::::::::::Region Close-Up: Change::::::::::::

Background

The region of Change (5th largest in NationStates) is a self-proclaimed anti-UN region, although they have many U.N. members and even a Regional Delegate. They claim to vote against every new proposal except for repeals. They seem fairly organized, though they don't reach out to new or smaller members. Change is a franchise of the region of Gatesville, a huge region with splinters in smaller regions.

Recent Activity

The region of Change has recently been part of a number of U.N. proposals to repeal certain laws. They have helped with repealing both the Recycling law and the Law of the Seas. Change is an extremely powerful region with a strong amount of pull over the votes.

Firsthand Account

This recruitment e-mail was sent to a member of Finlandland from a nation in Change:

Welcome to Nationstates. I have been playing the game for well over a year now. Observation I've made: The United Nations in this game is way too powerful than it should be. It seems like people make proposals and they are approved without much thought. Many UN proposals that are enacted on every country should be daily issues to vote on instead of UN proposals.

That's why I want to invite you to come to the region called Change. Our region is named after the desire to bring Change to the UN and the game to make it a bit more reasonable. We are for a nation's right to govern themselves instead of having the UN decide everything for you. Change is now the 5th largest player made region in all of NationStates, and a franchise region of the largest player made region in Nationstates - Gatesville. We are the pro-sovereignty movement!

The Polls

The Finlandland Polls is used by Parliament to gain the people's opinions on regional legislation. It usually contains new issues weekly, with the issue turnover occurring over the weekend. Poll votes may influence Parliament, but Parliament is not required to cede to them in decision-making. To view the current issues, click "The Polls" link below. Member nations may vote in the vote window below that.
